Apparently due to the financial fair play rule we are not going to be signing Andy Carroll next season. This rule states you cant spend more then your TV payments which means if we spent 17 million on Carroll that would leave nothing extra to strengthen the squad. I’m not 100% sure but I think it also means directors cant spend their own money on transfers which means clubs are really going to have to concentrate on developing their youth systems. Of cousre this could be a cunning plan to try and get Liverpool to drop the price because I cant see many offers coming in for that price!
West Ham are also being linked to French CB Nicolas Isimat-Mirin who plays for Ligue 1 side Valenciennes. Only 21 Mirin has age on his side and is meant to be pretty tasty with other clubs around Europe linked to him last Summer.
We are apparently ready to go back in for hot property striker Jordan Rhodes. The test was whether he could make the step up from Division 1 to Premier league and no club was brave enough to pay the 8 million Huddersfield wanted. Blackburn Rovers did, ok they are Championship but that was one step up and he’s still scoring goals! If we look at the stats in Div 1 he scored 40 goals, in the Championship he has so far scored 21 goals so chances are he is a 10+ goal scorer in the Premier league which we haven’t had for a longtime but have we missed the boat? If Blackburn paid 8 million and he is still scoring goals then I reckon we are looking at paying around 12 million for a championship striker! Sorry but I’d have Bony over him and he would cost less!
