I hate them!
No I really do!!
Harry Redknapp is planning to make an offer for Inter Milan striker Victor Obinna this summer. The 23 year old is out of contract in the summer after his San Siro employers decided to not take up the option of renewing his contract and this has led to reports that the Hammers will look to make the striker’s move to Upton Park permanent but Tottenham have other ideas.
White Hart Lane boss Redknapp is keen to freshen up his attacking line up after seeing his strikers struggle this season, especially in Premier League action, and he has earmarked a move for Obinna and hopes that the allure of playing for a top four chasing side will tempt the former Chievo man to opt for a move to North and not East London.
Avram Grant apparently wishes to offer Obinna a deal but the skilful attacker is being fairly coy on the issue stating “Inter have no more say about me. I had a loan deal until the end of the season with an option on my contract to be registered before the end of January for 2011 and 2012, but they (Inter) did not register it. Will I stay at West Ham? I am happy in London but we will have to evaluate many things.”
Tottenham’s current quartet of strikers has failed to deliver in goal scoring terms in domestic football this term with Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Peter Crouch delivering just eight goals in a combined 38 Premier League starts. This led to Harry Redknapp making various unsuccessful moves in the January transfer window and now he will look to persuade Obinna to move to Spurs in the summer, a decision that may be all the more easier for him to make if West Ham fail to avoid the drop.
West Ham will hope that the Nigerian international can help in their bid to avoid relegation to the Championship as he has proved one of the more effective attacking players and Avram Grant appears to have a great many options up front including Carlton Cole, Demba Ba, Frederic Piquionne, Freddie Sears as well as on loan front man Keane, who is currently sidelined.
Obinna has netted eight goals in 21 starts in all competitions this season.
ONE goal for education Victor, but only TWO goals for us in the league!
