The footballing world was shaken to it’s core this morning as the news broke that a West Ham midfielder was discovered have bought a new pair of boots and made his way to White Hart Lane desperate for a trial.
This was of course just a publicity stunt for Martin Allen’s Pro FC.
Pro FC stands for Professional Footballers Camp. The concept behind Pro FC is to provide players with the opportunity to trial with a pro football club and potentially sign a pro contract following a week of intensive training with pro managers and coaches.
The five day, four night camp will see all players allocated to a squad and manager for the duration of the camp. During the first four days, it is the manager’s task to assess his squad in order to select a winning team for the ‘Pro FC Match’ on the Friday.
Pro FC recruits its managers and coaches through the League Managers Association (LMA) and the Professional Football Coaches Association (PFCA). This means that all players will train with and be coached by current or former professional managers and coaches who have worked for one or more of the top 92 professional clubs from the Premier League, Championship League and Football Leagues 1 and 2.
