Defender Emiliano Insua on Grants sniffing list
West Ham will turn to Liverpool starlet Emiliano Insua if loan deal for Wayne Bridge collapses
West Ham United look set to turn to Liverpool full back Emiliano Insua if a loan deal for Wayne Bridge collapses, according to The News of the World.
Hammers boss Avram Grant has identified Manchester City full-back Bridge as his top target, but if the deal falls through, he is ready to turn to the young Argentinian.
Bridge has found himself out of the City side this season and may look to get first team football elsewhere, although City may not be willing to let the player go while they battle for trophies at home and abroad.
Insua is set to return to Anfield from a loan spell at Galatasaray, and Liverpool may be willing to let the 20-year-old defender go out on loan again, as he is not part of the first-team plans this season, despite the Reds’ difficult campaign so far.
Grant is looking to add to his defensive options after enduring a torrid first half of the season, but Saturday’s home win over Wolves lifted the Hammers out of the relegation zone, boosting their survival hopes.
