Avram Grant’s had it as Dave Jones moves to the top of West Ham’s hit list
AVRAM GRANT is a dead manager walking – with Cardiff boss Dave Jones the new name on the West Ham hit list.
Hammers chiefs are believed to be compiling a list of candidates to replace Grant, despite yesterday’s 3-1 win over Wigan. Glenn Hoddle is on that list, along with Jones, but one man now off the radar is QPR boss Neil Warnock.
Warnock was a front-runner for the job but has had a long-running feud with Wally Downes, appointed West Ham’s defensive coach this week.
Downes got the gig without input from Grant, and sources close to the founder member of Wimbledon’s Crazy Gang say his job is safe no matter what happens to the Hammers manager.
An Upton Park source said: “It is just a matter of finding the right man at the right price – then Grant will be put out of his misery.”
Jones’s record at promotion-chasing Cardiff has put him on West Ham’s radar but City would want a hefty compensation fee.
Despite yesterday’s result – their first win in nine Premier League games – Hammers are still bottom of the table.
