Dyer going down the Ledley King path
WEST HAM boss Avram Grant hopes Kieron Dyer’s injury problems will not follow the same path of Tottenham’s Ledley King.
The midfielder was unable to train all week and missed the Hammers’ 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at Upton Park on Saturday.
Dyer has been plagued by injury throughout his time at West Ham, although he had been able to string a run of games together this season.
Grant admitted he will have to manage him carefully, much in the same way that Harry Redknapp is forced to with King at Spurs, who has a chronic knee problem.
“Kieron played well last week (against Wolves),” said Grant. “He has had three years out, he didn’t train all the week, he couldn’t play.
“I’m sure that we can use him in the future, but we need to manage him very carefully.
“It is very frustrating. Hopefully it will not be like Ledley King at Tottenham. At least when he plays he is playing very well, but we still need to manage him very carefully.”
