..and that was pretty much it.
SCUNTHORPE United have this morning completed a loan swoop for West Ham striker Freddie Sears.
The 20-year-old has swapped the Irons for the Iron initially for a month, though manager Ian Baraclough is hoping to take the forward for longer term if he proves a success.
“He’s certainly a player who will enhance our squad and hopefully he will help the lads up front by chipping in with a couple of goals,” said Baraclough this morning.
“We were presented with the chance to bring him in and we’re delighted to have him board.”
Sears has played 26 times in the Premier League for West Ham, though only five of that tally have been starts.
The former England Under-21 international also has Championship experience, having spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace and Coventry – though he failed to score in each spell
The arrival of Sears, who goes straight into the Scunthorpe squad for tonight’s match at Preston, is a rare piece of success in what has been a frustrating insight into the transfer market for the Iron boss.
And while he is clearly plesed with the capture, Baraclough is quick to point out that he won’t be his last new signing.
“As long as the chairman says we can carry on looking then we will,” he added.
