Dyer and Benni set to return for tonights clash
Kieron Dyer is set to return to the West Ham squad for their Carling Cup tie with Sunderland on Tuesday. Dyer was said to have had a disagreement with boss Avram Grant after being left out of the squad that faced Stoke on Saturday. Dyer had been recovering from a thigh injury and was told by Grant that he would not be in the squad to face Stoke as the injury needed more time to heal, a decision that is though to have upset Dyer; however, Grant has named the 31-year-old in the squad for the match at the Stadium Of Light.
Also named in the squad is Benni McCarthy. The South African striker has been on a strict weight loss programme after being fined by the club when he failed to achieve weight loss targets. Now, after intensive training at a clinic in Austria McCarthy has achieved his target weight and is in the reckoning for tonight’s game. Avram Grant is set to make a number of changes for the game.
