Upson has the hump
WHU defender Matthew Upson is believed to be pondering his future with England, after falling out with manager Fabio Capello.
The 31-year-old was part of the Three Lions squad that participated in the World Cup — starting a number of games in the absence of captain Rio Ferdinand — and was also given a call-up for the Euro 2012 qualification games against Bulgaria and Switzerland.
However, despite injuries to Rio Ferdinand and John Terry, the centre-half was overlooked by Fabio Capello, as it is said that he is now behind Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott and Michael Dawson in the pecking order.
Now The Mirror claims that Upson met with Capello and the coaching staff after being left out against Bulgaria, with some entertaining fears that the defender could have walked out on the national team prior to the game against Switzerland.
However, following the victory in Basel, it is now thought that the former Arsenal player is considering stepping away from the international arena.
