Wilson never spoke to Grant

Marc Wilson insists a move to West Ham United Football Club was never an option.

The 23-year-old left Portsmouth for Stoke City on transfer deadline day, in a deal which saw Liam Lawrence and Dave Kitson head in the opposite direction.

There was speculation that the Hammers were also in the frame for the Irishman’s signature, but the player insists he never even held talks with Avram Grant’s side.

“I’d heard West Ham were interested, but I didn’t speak to anyone there,” said Wilson. “Leaving Portsmouth was difficult, but I wish them well and my aim now is to do my best for Stoke.”
