Hammers say non to 7million but oui if they offer 10….
West Ham United have reportedly turned down a £7 million offer from Liverpool for Carlton Cole.
The 26-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield, despite Hammers boss Avram Grant maintaining that he will do all he can to retain his best players.
And the recent cash influx at the Merseyside club owing to the sale of midfielder Javier Mascherano to Barcelona has only intensified the speculation surrounding the future of the former Chelsea forward.
It had previously been reported that the Reds had made an enquiry into the availability of Cole, and now the Daily Mail reports that West Ham are standing firm on their asking price of £10m as they rejected a £7m offer from Liverpool.
It is said that the two clubs even spoke of a direct player exchange deal that would have seen Ryan Babel move the other way, but the east London outfit are thought to be holding out for £10m in cash.
Should Cole move to Liverpool, West Ham are believed to have lined up a move for 28-year-old Brescia forward Andrea Caracciolo.
