Sekou Baradji – heading back home – to us?
West Ham are leading the chase to sign free agent Sekou Baradji who was released from Naval 1º de Maio according to talkSPORT. The east end club face competition from Stoke City, and Blackpool.
The 26-year-old Frenchman was strangely signed by West Ham on deadline day in 2005, however an un-successful loan spells at Reading saw the Irons release the promising midfielder a year later. Since, Baradji has travelled to Tours, Martigues, and most recently Naval 1º de Maio, a Portuguese minnow.
The combative midfield player was on-loan at Wigan Athletic during the summer, however the tough-tackling midfielder failed to win a contract at the DW stadium.
Reports suggest West Ham manager Avram Grant and Stoke City boss Tony Pulis are keen to look closer at the player with the possibility of offering a trial, with the Hammer’s the favourites to land the well-travelled Frenchman.
If Avram Grant is successful in sealing the signature of Baradji, it will be the second player the Hammer’s have re-signed this summer, with former Arsenal and Middlesbrough forward Jeremie Aliadierre expected to complete a Bosman move in the next 24 hours.
