Jean-Alain Boumsong?
French defender Jean-Alain Boumsong is the latest player to be linked with a move to West Ham, who will face competition from Hamburg for the 30-year-old.
The former Rangers and Newcastle United centre-back has excellent experience and has also played for Juventus before a three year stint at Lyon. Boumsong is a very imposing defender and would certainly add some steel to West Ham’s back four.
According to the Daily Mirror, Lyon have clarified that the Hammers have made an inquiry about Boumsong, but that West Ham boss Avram Grant has yet to make a bid to bring him to Upton Park.
Boumsong has a year left on his current deal at Lyon, but the club have made it clear that they will not be offering him a new contract. Hamburg are also thought to be plotting a move for the French defender, who has played 27 times for his country.
