West Ham to tell it’s celebrity fans to cough up
WHU’s owners are set to do battle with celebrity fans Ray Winstone and Russell Brand.
The club’s new owners David Gold and David Sullivan are gobsmacked that the previous regime gave Sexy Beast star Winstone the use of an executive box.
Comedian Brand has had free tickets for himself and his entourage. Winstone’s box, on the halfway line in the main stand, is the best at Upton Park and could command a fee of £75,000 a year.
An insider told the News of the World: “In the case of Winstone, who is a very wealthy man, it doesn’t seem right that he shouldn’t have to pay a fee for such a good facility.
“Other celebrities too seem to think they have a right to ring and get freebies.
“In many ways, it’s not their fault. It is down to the previous regime who ended up falling over themselves to oblige.”
