The 25-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months.

Maynard moved to the Robins from Crewe for £2.25m in July 2008.
He scored 46 goals in 131 appearances but was put up for sale this month after negotiations to extend his deal at Ashton Gate fell through.
The forward’s contract at City was due to expire in the summer.
Maynard has been the subject of intense transfer speculation since the summer, when Leicester offered a reported £6m for the striker, which was rejected by the Robins.
Premier League side Swansea City were then linked with the player before Wigan Athletic looked set to make a move for the former Crewe trainee before the January transfer window closed.
But the Latics cooled those rumours last week , leaving Championship leaders West Ham to move in for the striker.

The former Portugal Under-21 international forward joins the Hammers on a two and a half year deal - with an option for a third year - for an undisclosed fee after making a massive impression for npower Championship club Barnsley this season.

Vaz Te’s move to the Boleyn Ground reunites the Lisbon-born player with manager Sam Allardyce – the man who initially brought him to English football at Bolton Wanderers as a 16-year-old in 2003.

The 25-year-old is delighted to be working with Big Sam again and cannot wait to get his West Ham career underway.

“I spoke to Sam on Tuesday and went to see him at his office. He told me what he’s looking for. I’m very excited and I think he’s very excited too. I’ve played with Kevin Nolan and Joey O’Brien before and I also know Neil McDonald and some of the backroom staff.

A childhood friend and team-mate of Manchester United winger Nani, Vaz Te was born in the Portuguese capital before spending part of his upbringing in the west African nation of Guinea-Bissau.

After returning to Portugal and impressing for local club Real Massama, he joined SC Farense before moving to Bolton in 2003.

The young attacker would go on to make 78 appearances for Bolton, 59 as a substitute, and score seven goals. During his time with the club, he also earned four Portugal U21 caps, scoring once.

After six months with Scottish club Hibernian in 2010/11, Vaz Te linked up with Barnsley on a one-year deal last summer and has been a revelation at Oakwell. A run of 12 goals in 24 appearances reminded Big Sam of his talents and the West Ham manager moved smartly to work with the player again.

Morrison, who will celebrate his 19^th birthday on Thursday, is considered to be one of the finest prospects to have emerged from the Red Devils’ Academy in many years.

The deal finally went through at around 8.30pm after Morrison passed a medical. Morrison’s salary will start at around £12,000 a week with this possibly increasing to as much as £65,000. The rising sliding scale will be triggered only if West Ham regain their Premier League status. Then, after a certain number of top-flight starts, his salary would rise incrementally towards the £65,000 ceiling.

Although Ferguson and the coaches at United’s Carrington training base admired Morrison’s technical ability, the midfielder’s first‑team chances were limited to three Carling Cup appearances and he has also attracted attention for a number of off-field issues.

Touted as having ‘the potential to be one of the real stars of his generation’ on Manchester United’s official website, Morrison has also had his talents recognised at international level, appearing for England at U16, U17 and U18 levels and being called up for the U19 squad in November 2011.

Morrison is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and it appears the Premier League champions have accepted an offer from the Hammers.

The Red Devils rejected a bid from Newcastle United earlier in the transfer window after Sir Alex Ferguson stated that Morrison had rejected a new deal.

The 18-year-old subsequently took to Twitter to insist he had not turned down an extension, but the midfielder now looks to be on his way out of United.

The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona, Roma and Paris St Germain have all been linked with moves for Morrison, but West Ham appears his destination.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is preparing for a busy deadline day after lining up deals for Barnsley striker Ricardo Vaz Te and Genoa forward Ze Eduardo.

Sam Allardyce is desperate to bolster his forward line as he looks to keep the Hammers on course for a return to the Premier League.

He has been linked with a number of players this winter but has been frustrated in his efforts to secure targets such as Nikica Jelavic, and has switched his focus elsewhere.

While Genoa striker Ze Eduardo has arrived ahead of a potential transfer, West Ham are also understood to have contacted Championship rivals Leicester regarding the availability of Beckford.

Beckford only joined the Foxes in the summer after a season with Everton in the Premier League, while he had previously plied his trade with Leeds.

Vaz Te has bagged 12 goals this season, with ten of them in the Championship.

“The offer is derisory and we’ve turned it down,” confirmed Reds director Don Rowing. “We’re still in talks with West Ham, so we’ll have to see if anything happens there.”

League Two hopefuls Crawley are keen to bolster their attacking options as they look to maintain their bid for promotion and they have targeted a move for Nouble.

Nouble is back at West Ham after a successful spell on loan at Gillingham earlier this season, where he scored five goals.

The England Under 19 international, who scored on his only start for West Ham in the Championship this term against Derby, is well down the pecking order at Upton Park.

It is believed West Ham have granted Nouble permission to talk to Crawley about a move to the Red Devils.

Nouble is believed to have attracted the interest of a host of Championship and League One clubs, but Crawley hope to tie up a deal for the striker before the close of the transfer window.
