How it all began (updated)

When did you start supporting West Ham United?

Back in the mid 80′s. My old man said “Son I’ll take you to every London match and you can pick the team you want to support”. Didn’t get very far, I went to QPR then Fulham then WHU v Everton and I was hooked! Had to travel from West to East to see the games but that’s support I suppose.

The team back then

Any match stand out for you?

This game……

The highest attendance for it’s time (almost 29k) literally crammed in and taken off my feet and still the best every atmosphere I have ever experienced. Anyone that was their that night will agree with me.

Stuart Slater stole the show. I then went to the Semi final against a very good Forest side, after going down to 10 men we were always going to get a hiding but the fans oh what a day that was….

Who was your favourite player?

Stuart Slater. I don’t think people quite understand how good this player was for his time. In typical fashion he left the club and his career dive bombed from then on….
