Apparently, after arriving at Stoke someone had realized that we we didn’t have a mascot to lead us out at the Britannia Stadium. Up steps David Gold, goes down to the away fans, and asks 13 year old Ryan Cox, who had gone to the game with his dad, if he’d like to be an impromptu mascot for the day.
Ryan had his whufc shirt on, but (obviously) not shorts & socks. Fortunately, Matt Jarvis’ shorts & socks were only ‘slightly’ too big for 13 year old Ryan, so Matts reserve kit was used for him to run out together with Winston Reid.
“I was very excited when the Joint-Chairman picked me out of the crowd to be mascot,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it, to be honest, and I was a bit nervous when it came to leading the team out. We won the game, too, so it is a day I will never forget!”
Awesome Ryan, seems you had a great day. Bet your dad was so proud of you.
Guess it’s every whufc fans kid, come true!
To wear Jarvis’s shorts and fit in them LOL!
